Cowboy Jacks: A taste of Midwestern America

Steaks, burgers and fries. This a description of common American food that is typically loved by many all around the country, and even around the world. Fargo has a new restaurant that serves this exact food and much more. The restaurant is called Cowboy Jacks and is located on 506 Broadway North next to the Blue-Eyed Girl salon, and a few storefronts down from Beyond Running and Outermost Layer. Cowboy Jacks opened early September (September 9 to be exact) so it’s very new. However, being new doesn’t mean it’s unestablished. Cowboy Jacks is actually a local chain that’s strung across Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Minnesota has eight locations, and North Dakota and Wisconsin each have one. When you walk into the restaurant you will notice a strong country western theme.
The menu contains steaks, burgers, pizza, flatbreads, sandwiches and the typical soup and salad side options. The sides you can order includes sweet potato fries, baked potatoes, seasonal vegetables, lasso fries (normal French fries), coleslaw, tater tots, rice pilaf, and garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered the sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes and lasso fries. My general review of the food was that it was good but there was nothing super special about it. The steak was very tender on the inside but the top of it was a little overcooked and I found myself having to scrape off the especially overcooked parts.
The walls of the restaurant are brick and the floor is regular hardwood. One side of the restaurant contains tables and chairs and a wall of booths. The other side of the restaurant contains the bar. The walls are lined with western themed decorations like pictures of the west and taxidermied animal heads. Almost every wall contains a huge flat screen TV. The exterior of the restaurant contains a long table with swings instead of chairs. The rooftop has a bar that contains tables and chairs, cafe lights, a fireplace and if you are looking to lounge, there are cushioned chairs and benches. The vibe of Cowboy Jacks is very relaxed and chill. The ambience of the restaurant definitely caters to people of all different ages, it just depends on what time you get there.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a lot of time on their hands and are looking for good quality American food. I say you need a lot of time on your hands since the restaurant is relatively new in our area, the service is slower because they don’t have as many employees yet. The only people I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to are people who have many food allergies or are vegan/vegetarian. There is a lot of meat on the menu and there is also a lot of gluten too. Cowboy Jacks has typical bar and grill restaurant hours of 11am to 2 am Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 am on Saturday and Sunday.
