Are you wanting to elevate your style? In this column, I, a self-appointed fashion pro, am going to give you my own tips and tricks to help you upgrade your style from totally boring to totally chic. My first piece of advice is to always accessorize your outfits to give them more depth.
An accessory I always love to rock is a good ol’ belt. Now, I’m not talking about a honky tonky cowboy belt, I’m talking about a classic sleek brown leather belt. Let’s give you a base outfit to imagine this with, a blue pair of Levi jeans with a white shirt– a classic base outfit that will be utilized many times throughout this article.
The white shirt could be long-sleeve, short-sleeve, turtleneck, loose, tight, etc. But the outfit itself is pretty zero-dimensional. Add a belt, though, and it becomes a whole new concept. It seems more thought-out and now you can play around with this new accessory. The belt could be studded, have a print, be colorful for an accent color – the possibilities are endless. You can also wear it over a long skirt when there aren’t even belt loops, or wear it over a dress to cinch the waist.
A second accessory that serves as a staple is a good headband. On the idea of an accent color, an accessory that is good at providing that is a headband. When you first read the word headband you might think of running, or playing a sport, but the headband I’m talking about is fabric headband not one made out of spandex.
Hair is a part of looking fashionable and when the pop of color is added to it, it looks so much better. Bring that base outfit back to the front of your brain now. Then, add a headband of your favorite color. Since the white and blue is pretty boring that headband really makes you stand out and another plus it looks super cute in your hair.
Now get out there and try to find some accessories to up your fashion game and you can thank me later. Until next month sincerely your self appointed fashion-pro.
