Some people don’t enjoy their music, others claim that the band saved their life. After 12 years of being together, lead singer Gerard Way announced their split up on March 22, 2013. Fans were devastated. The ex-band members moved on with their lives.
“Of course I didn’t like it,” Chelsea Vickery, a fellow fan from Kentucky, said, “but I think it’s important for them to take some time off and get their mental states together. I’d rather have a band that took a break and feels great instead of a bunch of songs that were made by a band that’s tearing apart at the seams.”
On Oct. 31, 2019, fans were shocked as they saw the official My Chemical Romance account on all social medias make an announcement, a reunion show on December 20, 2019, in Los Angeles, California.
“Honestly, I think they did it for aesthetic and for Frank’s (MCR’s guitarist) birthday,” Vickery said. Tickets were gone in less than 14 hours from going on sale.
My Chemical Romance dropped their first album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love”, in 2002. They weren’t able to gain much attention, but after releasing their second album, “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge”, they were more recognizable. They got the most attention after their third album, “The Black Parade”.
Vickey said, “I gotta say “The Black Parade” [is my favorite]. I relate with almost all of the songs on that album.” Their fanbase was huge by the time they released their fourth album, “Danger Days: The True Lives Of Fabulous Killjoys”. After announcing their breakup, the fanbase grew exponentially and continued its steady growth throughout the years, up until they announced their reunion concert.
After a successful show, My Chemical Romance posted two mysterious videos on YouTube, which were creative ways to announce their tour around the world.
When the tickets went on sale, prices ranged from $200 to over $2,000. My Chemical Romance announced two other shows in Los Angeles after they sold out, but those tickets were gone in less than two days. The tour started on March 20 in Australia. So far, the Japan shows are postponed and the tour is still scheduled to end Oct. 10 in California. My Chemical Romance is back again.
