Trolls World Tour Movie is a lovely musical comedy that fell flat a few times for me personally.

It has been almost impossible to avoid or ignore the 2016 animated comedy/musical film, Trolls, with its catchy tunes and star-studded cast. And now as of April 10, you can now see the sequel: Trolls World Tour. It was originally going to be in theaters at this time, but now is available for digital rental because of the coronavirus.
In this new sequel, Poppy and Branch learn they are not the only troll tribe in the world. There are actually five other troll tribes living in different lands. Each tribe focuses on one of the six types of music: funk, country, techno, classical, pop and rock. The six tribes currently have lived perfectly fine without interacting with each other, but then, Queen Barb and King Thrash of the Rock Trolls plot to destroy the other musics. Poppy and Branch thus go out on an epic journey to unite the trolls and stop Queen Barb from eliminating all other music genres.
Trolls World Tour involved a lot of well-known celebrities including: Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, James Gordan, Ozzy Osbourne, Kelly Clarkson, Kenan Thompson, Dwayne Johson, and so many more, which made me excited for this film. However, within the first ten minutes it was kind of disappointing. The trolls were just singing and dancing for that entire time. I, along with my family, were very confused and concerned that this was going to end up being just one big music video of singing-dancing Trolls. After this scene, though, the plot began and it got much better.
I really was in awe of the creativity that had to go into making this movie. It was very entertaining to see all the different trolls and their music genres that went with them. Along with the main six, there also were K-Pop Trolls, Smooth Jazz Trolls, and even Yodeling Trolls. Every tribe had their own land and their own musical number at least once throughout the film. The whole time I was watching this film I couldn’t help but think the writer, Jonathan Aibel Glenn Berger, had a huge imagination.
Trolls World Tour was clearly made for kids much younger than me, but it still was enjoyable to watch. Yes, at points it was very stupid and made me question why I paid to see this, but at the same time it was funny and I enjoyed the musical selections. The original Trolls movie was much better though, which is why I only gave this three spartan heads. It was a decent movie, but they definitely could’ve spent a little more time on plot development, and less on random musical numbers. I’d recommend this movie for anyone who still can connect to the inner child and loves music.
